NHS why is it such a political problem
Each time we have an election, we have a big argument between the three major parties on what to do with it, how much cash to splash on it.
Each day we have problems in the press, we have the Tories on one side trying to privatise it, and Labour saying that it needs this and that. And Lib Dems going alongside there mates in Cameron.
The NHS is the pride of this country to give medical care free, BUT it the needs to get rid of all the abuse it takes from people who come to this country, gets a freebie and disappear.
It was stated recently in the media that the NHS has lost millions in bills from private care that has gone unpaid, and the government won't chase it up.
We have the great care from Doctors, Nurses and hospital staff that work there socks off for a paltry wage, and yet they still get a kick in the teeth from various governments in the political wars.
Its about time the NHS, was treated with great love and care it deserves and not treated like a football and abuse from people that don't deserve it.

Re: NHS why is it such a political problem
Dave's on a mission at the moment to be the most talked about British PM ever. he wants to be talked about by the 25th century people. so no doubt he'll have something instore for the NHS to make his dream come true.
the best thing is, we the public will go along with his dastardly insane plan/s

Re: NHS why is it such a political problem
Every time money has been thrown at the NHS here, it usually means closure of wards or entire hospitals, reduction of frontline staff, increases in admin staff and longer waits in Casualty.
It just doesn't add up... someone is creaming off vast profits somewhere.

Really - once again with the tabloid sound-bites?
fyi, it can take 5-10 years to develop a pharma product, and around 85% of development projects never finish, due to regulatory or actual "fit for purpose" issues.
But why take a balanced view on a subject when it's easier to be emotive and simplistic.....

If only we all had your levels of intellect, we little people might not feel so bad about having an opinion.

l stated that they were one of many that have made millions from the NHS and the fact remains some of the prices they are charging for their products are nothing short of a shocking rip off and yes l know they put plenty of money into research but they also make huge astronomical profits at the end of it all.

we could always relax the rules on testing new drugs to make it cheaper but then we could end up with another situation like this

well i grew up with the Mirror and the Sun but istill know and appreciate that developing a new drug and getting it onto the market can take upto 20yrs .It's not a fast return on the initial investment and can be very unpredictable because you also must appreciate that if the NHS think a drug is too pricey they won't buy it ,so that is a huge chunk from the UK market
This cancer treatment was discovered in 1990 and is in the news because the NHS think it is too expensive it is still in developement as well

Re: NHS why is it such a political problem
The NHS has to stop this ridiculous system that everyone can use, then chase up the people for the money when they flee abroad.
I believe that if you have just come into this country and go for hospital treatment, then you have to forfeit your passport or NI number until the bill is paid, this is why the NHS is in such financial trouble.
I have been to the A&E on several occasions in my life, and some people treat the medical staff with utter disgrace, and this should be stopped.
I live not far from a major hospital and its about time hospitals were treated with care, and given the funds to operate to the patients needs, BUT for patients that treat it as a freebee, should be made to suffer.

Nice ad hominem attack there, with no relevance to the actual post.
You appear to be confusing "intellect" with "willingness to research into things and not take media soundbites as facts"...
