Fred the shred loses his knighthood
Breaking news:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16821650
Quote:
Former Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Fred Goodwin has lost his knighthood.
Mr Goodwin, who was heavily criticised over his role in the bank's near collapse in 2008, was given the honour by the Labour government in 2004.
He has had his title cancelled and annulled by the Queen, following advice provided by Whitehall officials.

But as has just been pointed out on R4 PM program, he wasn't the only titled individual involved in the banking collapse. I'd like to see plenty of others stripped of their honours of whatever kind.

Maybe an official "un-dubbing" ceremony.
Thanks to the passing mod/admin for amending title tense.

Re: Fred the shred loses his knighthood
But he does get to keep his pension pot of £12 million - I would happily give up a knighthood for that!
Perhaps he should be given a choice: "Fred, you can have your knighthood or your pension but not both, so which do you want to keep?" I bet he'd keep his dosh.

Is that the one where instead of touching both shoulders with a sword the Queen chops his head off

Re: Fred the shred loses his knighthood
Good - he will be remembered for the abject failure he really was. Wouldn't it be nice if those of our glorious leaders who wined/dined this guy, patted him on the back and ultimately ensured he received his gong lost some of their privileges and/or honours too!

Re: Fred the shred loses his knighthood
Whilst this is the right thing to do as he certainly didn't deserve a knighthood given what we know now i think too much attention has been put on him allowing others just as culpable to get off with it so to speak. Lets not pretend this one person was the cause of all our woes yet he seems to be the public scapegoat for it. Personally i think the man is detestable and should have lost a lot more then a knighthood but so do many others be nice to see some of them lose out and in more practical ways then an honourary title.
