Camera I think, it was on Carrington Street in Nottingham. I can't remember going down there but, it's not worth arguing with them.

Are you making this up?
You can't even remember how you were caught. And there is the fact that they don't nick you for doing 2mph over the speed limit.

Tim, repeating something over and over does not make it any closer to being a fact.

No, you are right. However when something is a fact then it is a fact. And no matter how many times people want to make a political point, it doesn't change the facts.
There is a 10% flexibility to allow for differences in speedometers.

So you're under the impression a traffic cop won't do you for doing 75 in a 70mph zone?

I would say it were highly unlikely that you would get pulled for doing a recorded speed of less than 77 mph on whatever equipment was in use.
The fact is, in many cars when the dashboard speedo says 80 the chances are the car is doing less than 75. If the radar/camera records a speed of 80 the car's own dashboard speedo could be displaying in excess of 85 ... On other words, there's very little room for using the excuse of not noticing what speed you were doing.

"Highly unlikely" I can live with. Dressing an opinion up as 'fact' I cannot.

Not true, a lot of forces have had Zero tolerance periods in the last 10 years where the usual 10%+2 rule has gone out of the window ( for example last year in Ludlow).. Punishments for these zero tolerance periods have varied from warnings, fixed penalties to driver awareness courses.
I'm surprised to see this sort of thread especially as the UK has some of the lowest traffic fines for a modern country. US, AUS, NZ, SA and a lot of other countries in the EU put us to shame in the way they punish speeders with quite a few issuing hundreds of pounds worth of fines, jail time and also confiscation of the car for upto 28 days..

That depends on what you steal, and how violently you do it.

I actually asked a traffic cop today. And he said that most of the time they allow the 10%+2 rule. And often use common sense to allow more. But it often depends on the driver's manner of driving, or attitude when stopped.
