Re: Iran to impose European oil sales ban?
Don't know if it is me just getting old and having more practical things to worry about but i really cannot be bothered with the whole iran thing anymore and if were going to go to war lets just do it and get it over with. All this tit for tat rubbish trying to look like we don't want a conflict whilst all the time doing all we can via backdoor diplomacy to push a conflict is boring the hell out of me. Only reason to not push for a war is the people that will fight it are not the one's that will benefit in any way shape or form but then it's always been that way, the many dying for the accounts of the few.

All this will lead to a war in Iran and high oil prices for us!

we're in WW3: The Economic war.
was it just an accident that the refinery that got destroyed in Libya was owned by china and may loose out on future contracts because they didn't side with the rebels.

China just picks the side that suit them best, first it was Gaddafi, now the rebels!

Re: Iran to impose European oil sales ban?
Most of our imported oil comes from Norway, only a tiny percentage comes from the Middle East these days. The days of a blockade or war leading to anything as serious as a US-USSR confrontation are long gone. There are financial implications for the UK because we rely heavily on transportation but nothing like there would have been in the 80's. See avatar for details.

Re: Iran to impose European oil sales ban?
There's still a global price for oil, regardless of where our supplies actually come from. A global shortage caused by a blockade in the Gulf would still have unpleasant consequences for our fragile economy.
Still, I can't help wondering whether the Mullahs are truly mad enough to give the Western allies an excuse to sink their entire navy.

Re: Iran to impose European oil sales ban?
It makes no difference where the oil comes from, any blockade would hit us. In the past, any crisis is an excuse to increase fuel prices.

And when fuel prices increase, then so does inflation.
