Barefoot women in Liverpool offered flip flops
Quote:
Flip flops will be handed out to women in Liverpool to prevent them injuring themselves on a night out.
Liverpool City Council has bought 500 pairs of the footwear to give to women as "some try and walk barefooted and end up in hospital".
Councillor Ann O'Byrne said it was an attempt "to reduce the burden on accident and emergency units".
The flip flops will be given out by Street Pastors, a group which help people in the city centre at night.

Full story HERE
This is actually a good idea and will cost a lot less than someone going to casualty to have their feet stitched up!

Re: Barefoot women in Liverpool offered flip flops
It is definately a good idea but I do have to wonder how these women end up losing or deciding to head out without shoes.

There is about 3 main night life areas in Liverpool and they walk between them, but they are further apart than they think and the pain of high heels is too much, so they take them off and walk barefoot.
Some can't get a taxi in the city centre when going home at closing time, so start to walk in the general direction and flag taxis coming back in to the city.

Re: Barefoot women in Liverpool offered flip flops
A night out on Swansea's Wind Street isn't a proper night out without a pizza box being rammed in an Estate Agent's letterbox, someone shouting drunk nonsense at statues and some woman walking past wearing only one shoe
