Oh the irony, Labour didn't invest, that was the whole problem: They just peed the money away on employing legions of non-productive pen pushers and left nothing to show for it except now a ten year bust due to a structural deficit that can only be recovered from by sacking all the non-productive pen pushers.

Shadow education secretary Stephen Twigg has admitted that Labour's school building programme "didn't always deliver absolute value for money".
He also told the Observer he would have cut £2bn from the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) budget if re-elected.
The coalition government scrapped the £55bn BSF project in July 2010, arguing it had been beset by "massive overspends" and "needless bureaucracy".

Re: Britain's national debt tops £1 trillion
If you add in all the 'forgotten' Government liabilities (like PFI, future pensions and National Rail debts), we probably passed £5 trillion last November.

How much debt is currently in the hands of our banks, pension funds and financial sector?

PFI was a big mistake, ther Government should ban new PFI schemes and pay off the PFI debt over time!

What they did was line the pockets of GPs.
Kids turning up at university with less than basic reading and writing skills.
encouraging everyone to go university for "non" degrees, thus devaluing the actual degrees that they were encouraging everyone to go for.
So much so, that now any kid that invested 3 years of their life studying for a "media studies" or equivalent is probably looking forward to a future of stacking shelves and washing toilets whilst they payback the thousands of pounds worth of debt they were encouraged to get into for a worthless certificate.
PCSOs nuff said.
Please do tell of Labours triumphs. I think the M4 bus lane is the pinnacle of their achievments.

What about the new hospitals and reduced waiting times, HS1, more Police etc.
I strongly agree that New Labour has been a disappointment, but so have every government since WW2.

It is very easy to be in opposition & promise the world - less easy to actually deliver when you are in power.
Saying that, The Tories managed to win four elections on the trot & labour three so the electorate can't have been too disappointed!

Re: Britain's national debt tops £1 trillion
All this crap about one party being better than the other.I really am beginning to detest party politics as it never ever really gets anything done and we just keeping changing one ideology every few years for another without getting anything sorted long term.
