Pay freeze to last until 2020
It turns out that Millions of ordinary families are unlikely to see their earnings return to pre-recession levels until at least 2020, while the Rich will continue to see the wealth rise!

Who do you think about than, will it change Britain?

What do i think about that then? i think it's a load of rubbish ,the whole report is based on the economy being stagnant over the next 8 yrs .A lot can happen in 8yrs that the think tank cannot know only guess

Taking the Office for Budget Responsibility's latest forecasts, the researchers show that if growth remained sluggish for the next eight years the average annual disposable income of people in this crucial electoral battleground, representing a third of the population, would be £20,200 in 2020 – around £1,700 less than in 2007.
|
This is appears to be a lot of guess work on their part and paying too much attention to reports like this is a negative way of approaching the issues at hand imo

Re: Pay freeze to last until 2020
It would take growth rates not seen for almost a decade tosee a real rise in pay

Maybe the £26K they are paying people to live on benefits might have something to do with normal working famlies having to take a paycut.

So it had nothing to do with people taking out mortgages and credit cards, and spending money they couldn't afford or pay back?

That was caused by wages not as fast as the wealthy, which they caused

Can you please explain your reasons why you think that because there is no logic in what you are saying here Alan.

Let me explain, when the unions were weakened, wages did not rise as fast and with the rise of the free market, it helped create a mega-wealthy class, to then make a consumer market and enrich them selfs even more without raising wages, they lent on a massive scale...

Re: Pay freeze to last until 2020
And how did this make people who could not afford the mortgages and the credit cards they took out spend more than they could afford?

I'll have one of those mortgages I can't afford from you please. I could do with upsizing for a while.
On no, that's right, as a "responsible" lender you'll not let me have one will you.
Shame the banks weren't so responsible.

Agreed - but two parties were involved.
