Vodafone gets off the hook over unpaid taxes in India

Vodafhone Group's Indian subsidiary (Vodafone India, formerly Vodafone Essar and Hutchison Essar) has got away from paying a $5 Billion tax bill in India when it bought Hutchison Whampoa's 67% stake in Hutchison Essar. The Indian Government claimed that since this was an Indian company, it was liable to tax, but Vodaphone claimed than since the business transaction was carried out by two Non-Indian companies, that was not the case

Now the Supreme Court of India has backed Vodaphone over this matter, HOW DARE THEY!!!

It turns out that Vodaphone also owes Revenue and Customs another £6 billion, this is why we need to crack down on companies like these who think they can get away from not paying tax all across the world!
