It just makes this country the joke of Europe and no wonder all the dregs and scum want to live here, remember they also get free healthcare unlike in their home countries and we the taxpayer foot the bill.

IMHO if you come form overseas you should only get any money if you have had full employment for a minimum of 1 year, and then it is at a reduced rate.

Who do we blame. the system for being seen as the softest system in the world? the British people for being seen as walkovers, or the conning cheating foreigners stealing our money?

That's what it's all about really. nearly every single one that comes over here has every intention of staying here. nearly every single one is poor. nearly every single one has every intention of living here by means of being supported by the benefits system and all that comes with it.

The fact of the matter is that there are many millions of British nationals who through choice have never worked a day in their lives who are setting a shining example.
Perhaps if Messrs Grayling et al, and their predecessors going back several parliaments, hadn't obsessed so much over massaging the unemployed figures year in year out and had actually tried to address the issue of worklessness in a meaningful fashion then the message would never have gotten out that benefit claims in the UK were an easy touch.
The facts are a sobering read.

Am I reading the report right? Is it true that more than five million UK nationals are claiming working-age benefits? That works out at more than 1 in 10.

That's easy when you have such a poorly paid job that you have to claim Income Support, Housing Benfit, etc.
Most EU immigrants I know figured out years ago how to milk the system to the max by limiting the hours they work, refusing overtime, and breeding far more than they would back in their home country.
And now at least one immigrant has found that selling The Big Issue entitles her to more benefits as a judge decided that that is a job!
