The type of handwringers you refer to are no worse than those who bleat on about Human Rights always being in favour of criminals - even when faced with the fact that in this case they are not.

That is of course your opinion.
There are many millions of people who benefit from EHR and its associated Acts. Take for example someone in the UK currently being in the unfortunate position of facing redundancy - they are protected in part by EHR & the European Employment legislation. Are they going to be on here later handwringing and saying "Take your European Human Rights and Employment Legislation and stick 'em - I don't want your redundancy".
You see, some people can't see further than the DM frothing at the mouth anti Euro headlines when it comes to EHR - or any HR issue for that matter. The fact is that most people don't realize how human rights (whether UK or European) affect them positively in their everyday life & work.
Nobody - especially legislators - gets everything 100% right for 100% of the population when it comes to the law / laws but, for goodness sake, a bit of perspective is called for.
