Just heard The Wright Stuff are going to be discussing extending school hours so the children get used to doing 'job hours'

What jobs?!!

Re: Longer school hours
Handy hint - "The Wright Stuff" ≠ reality*
*even if they call it "reality TV"

Re: Longer school hours
never going to happen ,teachers wouldn't stand for it ,strikes ,riots and general chaos if this was even attempted .Just look at the blood popping veins that appear whenever splitting up the summer hols is mentioned

Re: Longer school hours
Stupid idea anyway, let them be kids and have fun. Trying to stick them in school even longer is stupid.

Re: Longer school hours
Teachers stay hours after the kids go home, extend the hours until 5pm and they'd be living there as well.

Re: Longer school hours
What sort of times have been suggested?
When I consider they won't change the daylight savings because it would mean pupils coming home from school in the dark I'm wondering how they would fit another couple of hours in.
Some schools round here begin at 8.30 am but then they finish at 2.30. It could be better to have an earlier start say about 7.30 am so they could finish at 3.30/4 pm and just about avoid having to travel in the hours of darkness.

Re: Longer school hours
School hours are long enough IMHO. With breakfast clubs and after school, activities, I'm starting wondering whether some parents ever actually see their children....
