"Breathtaking"benefits abuse
A Moroccan asylum seeker has been jailed after falsely claiming almost £400,000 in incapacity benefit - a crime described by prosecution lawyers as "breathtaking fraud on a grand scale".
Is it any wonder that people are turning against immigrants /asylum seekers. It's bad enough that some of our own indigenous population get up to these tricks ,stealing from your own so to speak ,without people coming from outside the UK to steal from us
Quote:
He was not granted asylum, but was given exceptional leave to remain in the UK, giving him full access to the UK benefit system.
He lived a double life for the next decade, fooling council disability assessors and charities into thinking he was paralysed from the neck down.
|
10yrs he got away with it and to top it all he brought some of his family to Britain to take advantage of our benefits system ,who was supposed to be keeping tabs on a failed asylum seeker with special leave to remain ?

Bouzalim has been jailed for six years and 11 months.
|
so he's still costing us money ,6yrs 11months how much is that going to cost and we can't even kick him out because we gave him British citizenship in 2008,....can that be taken away after he serves his time?
Quote:
|
His siblings have all been sentenced to 12-month suspended sentences and handed unpaid work orders of varying lengths.
|
Any ideas for work orders for these scum bags ?....scrubbing out the sewers maybe?

But if we kicked him out. wouldn't we be moaning about where's the punishment in that?
I personally think that a jail sentence even if he only does 1 year and 6 months. it's still stopping him from being a free man to go anywhere and do anything he wants. no matter if it's costing us money.

Oh i agree he should serve time i was pointing out that we can't kick him out after he has served his time unless we can remove his citizenship which i don't know if we can or not

£400,000 in 10 years....that's an average of £40,000 per year. How on earth did he manage to claim that much?

I would suggest it was because the system that is supposed to be keeping tabs on asylum seekers failed ,i would also suggest that the system that is supposed to check on invalidity claimants failed

Re: "Breathtaking"benefits abuse
It includes the cost for his 'carers'. properties, probably a nice car. and anything else that he has been given due to his predicament.

Forget the fact that he was an asylum seeker. If he was entitled to housing then that wasn't fraud. It's the £40,000 per year in benefits that I'd love to know how he got. There are many arguments in threads on here where people claiming DLA are struggling to get by. So how did he get so much (that he wasn't entitled to)?

his two brothers and sister, who acted as his carers
he was given special housing in Camden, London, and even moved into a flat designed specially for him
A specially-adapted bed, wheelchair and other equipment were issued to him.
Over the years, his Moroccan siblings came to live in the UK and were knowingly brought into the conspiracy to act as his carers - entitling them to also receive benefits.
(I thought only one person could claim carers?)
It comes to about £750 per week.

So how many carers would he have been entitled to?

Well that's the big question isn't it ,and without wishing to turn this political ,this must have happened under labour who gave us the most bloated civil service we have ever had ,there should have been more than enough pen pushers to keep a chack on him

I have seen a couple of sites that you pay a fee for and they will help you with your claim. Very suspect behaviour on some of these sites I can tell you.

Re: "Breathtaking"benefits abuse
As usual it seems that the 'system' is very good at making life hard for genuine claimants but not sufficiently robust to prevent serious and massive fraud like this. Despite being Moroccan he successfully claimed asylum as an Afghan refugee fleeing torture so it seems the Home Office was as easy to dupe as the Benefits Agency.
Tip of the iceberg methinks....
