Re: Retransmission fees fair or not ?

Dont actually like the sound this one bit.

May got it wrong but the way I read BEEB would not be on Sky or Virgin to watch them you would have to switch to freeview box then muck about by going back to digital box either sky or virgin depending.

Its more of lazyness but cant even remember touch the freeview side and the worry is for HD owners would be forced to buy HD freeview just for BEEB HD. Those got sky HD or Virgin + but standard freeview biggest losers. Hasten to add beeb would lose out more than gain as viewing figures on there HD platform dries up.

Hense more money for consumer but hell BEEB saves money doubt the savings would get reverted in improved content but bosses wallets.

Re: Retransmission fees fair or not ?

Maybe if the BBC did not pay "£15.5m for taxies or the £9m in train fares" They would not have to worry about the £10m to sky ???

Presumably after this will be wanting to avoid paying Arqiva for terrestrial transmission?

I think the BBC's gravy train is slowly coming to an end and they are trying to keep the managers and presenters pay high by taking drastic measures in other areas, Thats my personal perspective on the BBC and its tax on tv sets

pitfall removing analogue for digital ??

that beeb could not afford the change over god knows how much been pumped into this project but must been quite abit.

Have awful feeling it might see the birth of subscription beeb services in not too far distance and on top licience fees too.

Would think some would willing pay like sheep but think many would just refuse to pay to watch. If we do then can see government changing the license fee as a general television right rather to pay for public service television.

Either way the licence will stay but BEEB will be subscription would not be suprised by the next 2 years its anounced.

Nice....

I prefer the present set-up, but I don't call those who think differently "sheep".

If the beeb go subscription then the tv tax should be dropped.

Do you think it will is the question

personally I think it would be rebadged yet keep funding beeb. Maybe reduce it as subscriptions get stronger to appease rivals.

Hugh sorry nothing against any poster but think you know the kind british people who would pay and pay and pay yet complain. Example ther people in uk moan about the premier league destroying lower league but cant bear switching it off not paying for it.
