Thieves steal Derby's Christmas lights
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-15701380
Quote:
The switch-on of Derby's festive illuminations could be delayed after thieves stole more than £20,000 of Christmas lights and equipment.
The lights were stolen from storage at Markeaton Park using the cherry picker lorry which would have been used to install them in the city centre.

The stolen lorry is a white Iveco Cherry Picker with yellow Versalift ET38NF cradle and has the registration number Y83 KDK.

The cheek of it.I think a visit round the back streets of the town to see which house has a brilliant mega watt Crimbo lights on display might worth a try. With any luck they may also find the cherry picker outside.

How much do you think there might be and just how much would it be worth?
I suspect the cherry picker has far more value.

Agreed, But lets face it the pikey scum bags will nick a memorial plaque from a war memorial so copper lighting cable will be worth something to them.

Either way: why are we already shooting travellers? I didn't see anything that implicates them in this theft?

Because you will find that it is generally them that carry out this sort of thieving.
You should see the video tapes of them visiting our cable yard at a night. They still come and have a look to see if there is anything in there even when it has been empty for 6 months now

Well if it's "generally them" and you have a video that no one else can see then I'm convinced.

considering that Derby council have just invited a bunch of travellers to stay for the duration then i would say it's a knocking bet it's down to them
