The maid told under interview how she fled and hid until Strauss-Kahn left the hotel, then reported the attack.

But it has now emerged that she cleaned a nearby room and returned to his suite before raising the alarm.

The hotel worker also admitted lying on her asylum application in the US - including false details of an alleged rape in her native Guinea.

She also spoke to a jailed drug dealer within a day of the alleged attack, when officials say she was taped discussing the benefits of pursuing the bank boss, who later quit his top job.

Asylum seeker lies on application, what a surprise. Should that really be taken into account? The Asylum form claims were not aimed at getting the purported(probably unnamed) rapists into trouble.

In his own version of events, he was a married man who had a brief sexual encounter with a complete stranger, just before he was due to go out to meet his daughter for lunch. Not great behaviour on his part, whichever way you look at it.

Listening to the French media on radio and TV, it's impossible not to spot the political and power machine in France digging for every bit of dirt they can on the maid, whilst fawning over the probable future political boss of their country.

I cannot determine if the rape accusation is true or not, I'll leave that to the US courts to find out, but I think power and money are beating public opinion in both the USA and France into believing DSK is an angel who must be saved.

l think he is far from a angel but we must not get into this media frenzy of finding someone guilty before its even gone to court as by doing that the media are prejudicing any potential trial.

What did he think it was all about? Prostitution is a crime. Therefore it was almost certainly a crime, either way. They didn't meet on a night out somewhere as a random pick-up.

its not a crime here or in france and its not a major one in the usa either what they call a misdemeanor

This is a *very* strange situation. Given the man's position and his potential as a candidate for French PM I find myself wondering who might have the power and money to set up a situation like this.

I certainly don't think it's all as simple as it's been made to appear initially. I believe there's a very good chance his weaknesses have been manipulated to bring him down.
