Not a government decision. The parole board have to decide if they are fit for release and almost inevitably will. If their inevitable appeal about pre-trial publicity fails.

This story still has some twists and turns to come. There have been some pretty glaring omissions made in the accepted version of events.

have i read that wrong,or have you wrote it down wrong or do you advocate sending convicted criminals families to prison aswell

The Attorney-General is to review the length of the sentences handed to the two men convicted of killing teenager Stephen Lawrence.

The review follows a request by a member of the public.

The opposite I think. Not sure why you omitted the last part of the first sentence (or the second one for that matter).

The Attorney-General is to review whether the sentences handed to the two men convicted of killing teenager Stephen Lawrence were "unduly lenient".

The review follows a request by a member of the public and comes after the trial judge, Mr Justice Treacy, suggested he would have doubled the minimum terms of Gary Dobson and David Norris if the law had allowed.

David Norris and Gary Dobson are to appeal against their convictions for the racist murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence in south-east London in 1993.

Norris will appeal on the basis that the use in evidence of a surveillance video was unfair, his lawyer confirms.

The "Footscray" video showed him and Dobson using violent racist language.

Papers have also been received at the Court of Appeal from Dobson's solicitors, setting out his intention to appeal.

The pair were sentenced to life after being found guilty by an Old Bailey jury at the beginning of January.

Dobson will serve a minimum of 15 years and two months, and David Norris 14 years and three months.

What utter comtempt by these murderers.

Interesting - we have the possibility of two appeals.
One from the defendants thinking their sentences are too much, and the other from the attorney general thinking they were too little.

It could be a case of double or quits!

Probably quits. Whilst I've no doubt they did it I don't think there was enough evidence to convict them. That coupled with the pre-trial publicity will probably be enough to get hem off once the appeal process reaches Europe.
