Dunno about bank robberies, but How about a jewlerers?
Or a travel agents?
Both weren't isolated incidents and were linked to previous robberies.

For me you have hit the nail on the head gaz, there can be no doubt at all that there are men in Britain who are so insecure that they enforce this monstrocity on their wives, this is the issue for me.
I can't pretend I like the burhka, I detest that in 21st century Britain there are women being entombed in this travesty, and it seems too many people are far to concerned for the vocal few who want to wear this cloak than for the silent majority who dare not express a view. This isn't a question about being free to wear what you wish, its a fundamental human right to be able to choose not to wear this oppressive garment, and I feel that making excuses for the burhka does the oppressed women no favours at all.

And banning it helps? Do you think the "oppressed women" will (a) start to wear Laura Ashley dresses when they go outside, or (b) never be allowed to go outside?

S11 of the Employment Act 1989 exempts Turban wearing Sikhs from wearing safety helmets on building sites etc
The Religious Exemption Act 1976 passed by the British Parliament in 1976, Section 2A allows Turban wearing Sikhs not to wear helmets on bikes
these are exemptions to British law that has been in place or was put in place years ago and I believe its the tip of a huge iceburg

Oh yeah and what about the fact they are allowed to to carry a Kirpan?? I can not even buy a butterfly knife to play with let alone caryr one

That's all you can come up with? Those hoary old stories..Nothing more recent? And yet this is a Muslim bashing thread so surely we have made great swathes of laws to accommodate them..I've Never even heard of anyone being killed with a Kirpan and if Sikhs want to endanger their own lives by not wearing helmets that's their lookout..they can no doubt sort out insurance and all the other Health safety issues involved for themselves.
Or is the old fashioned laws that we have always had, about people in a DEMOCRACY being free to wear what clothes they choose not enough?
But we have banned fox hunting, smoking what's one more freedom lost eh?Then we can ban alcohol and anything anyone thinks needs banning. We'll have curfews for teenagers next as some of them actually go out and get into trouble at night.Maybe all those who go fishing will find themselves the target of the anti blood sports fraternity?
Women wearing Burkhas are not a great security issue..they will accommodate themselves to security issues and I haven't seen the papers reporting about women refusing to show their faces during security checks which the Daily Fail or the Sun would be more than willing to make front page news..
No this is an ism..Not sure if it's racism religeonism or fascism but it is a stamping on people's personal freedoms.
Who the hell are you to tell me what I can or cannot wear in the streets of the Greatest Democracy of a free world?
That's reserved for place like Iran and I don't want to follow their example.

BBKing is, of course, correct:

Metroline said the two women were prevented from boarding the bus because they were abusive towards the driver and other passengers, not because of their dress.

Re: Muslim woman wearing veil 'refused bus ride' in London
I feel a new tabloid headline coming on:
"Muslim Women Involved In Serious Abuse Case"
"Some Muslims are awkward & rude" doesn't have quite the same impact does it?.....
