Re: BP Macondo Oil Leak: Gulf of Mexico, US

Sounds to me even BP don't know how to control or what to do as they've exhausted all methods and now willing to accept any method.

This is going to cost BP a bomb.

Isn't it called risk management these days? Or in other words risk NO management. "It probably won't happen, oh dear it just has!"

Re: BP Macondo Oil Leak: Gulf of Mexico, US

Yes it will wind up costing BP a bomb but it may also wind up having far greater ramifications for all those companies engaged in this sort of leading edge exploration if the financial costs involved and any penalties imposed are too severe. Ultimately I guess it'll wind up costing us all a lot of money not to mention the damage to the environment etc..

Re: BP Macondo Oil Leak: Gulf of Mexico, US

I read in one of a number of comments online that depending on what the company books look like and how much it's going to cost BP for this cleanup - everything costs more these days, it probably be better to declare bankruptcy to the US government and so the US government ends up owning BP......controversial or what.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a market out there that sells some sort of device or equipment that you can put just before the mainlands that catches the oil in events like this. The amount of money they make I would've thought researching all aspects would've been included.

very good point ,they do have barrages floating on the water but how effective these are i'm not sure ,not much by the looks of things.
Given that BP made 5.5 billion first quarter this year i do think a bit more could be invested on spillage control
