You say that but I think The Times doesn't like him much either. I've seen stories from it that have attacked him; on the front page as well. Can't provide details when because this story has been rumbling for a few years

Or are you suggesting that anyone who opposes the Tories are allowed to be on only one thread and everybody else can start whatever thread they like? Are those who have a different opinion, to all those on the right, not allowed the freedom of voicing their opposition.

Although it increasingly seems that our current government is considerably more right wing than the Tories..

Yes that's been true for some time - Flyboy evidently doesn't appreciate that fact however... lol

Because that thread had no substantive source material (it referred to a report that they didn't even provide a link to). This one has loads.

"Flyboy", as I previously stated in this thread, I think that all MPs and Members of the Lords should be domiciled, and pay the appropriate tax, in this country.
Do you think the same rule should apply to "Lord Paul"?

The article that was in the OP of that thread, did not provide a link to the report that they referred to.

I thought that this was a thread about Ashcroft. Personally, I think that all politicians who can't be bothered to pay taxes in this country should be sacked, but then I suppose it's a bit much to ask Cameron to do that. Ooh, but wait, didn't he promise something......

re: Will we ever get to the truth about Ashcroft's tax status
Oh, I see - if the thread is about someone doing something, we can't comment on closely related subjects, like politicians in another party in the same situation? Even though I stated that all politicians (and strangely enough, that included Lord Ashcroft) should be domiciled and pay the taxes.
Interesting........
btw, how can David Cameron sack Lord Paul? He's a Labour peer; so, do you think Gordon Brown should sack Lord Paul?

Well even if he did he'd probably bring him back a few months later and promote him......
It seems Flyboy's all worked up about Cameron not honouring a promise (although we don't actually know that yet) when Brown didn't even have the balls to carry through a similar one in respect of HMG's non-dom backers...

I thought there was a degree of sarcasm in his post but I may be wrong...

The point is that there seems to be a trend that when a thread is started, or a post submitted, which criticises the Tories, all efforts are made to divert attention from them, by saying, "Labour do it, so it must be alright."
I didn't say Cameron should sack Lord Paul. I was referring to his promise about sacking anyone in his party that doesn't pay UK taxes. Seeing as they refuse to tell the public whether their deputy chairman and financial supporter pays tax in the UK, shows them as the hypocrites they really are and that they haven't changed one iota, since their glory days of the nineteen eighties and nineties.

So should Brown sack Lord Paul or not and why did he ditch a change in the rules that would've laid this matter to rest? Any chance of an answer???...

re: Will we ever get to the truth about Ashcroft's tax status
I have no idea if he has or not, as far as I am aware the rule is in the new legislation and that it is waiting to be activated, but I could be mistaken.
As far as Lord Paul is concerned, I do believe he should have no part in the Labour Party until he declares his tax status as being domiciled in the UK. However, there seems to be too many that will not say the same about Ashcroft.
P.S. Altering quotes is not very good manners.
