[Updated] BNP Leader Nick Griffin wins North West MEP seat.

Oh well done, 120,000 people in Yorkshire and the Humber, you've given the ex-head of the racist National Front a publicly paid position representing Britain. I'm sure the D-Day veterans and Holocaust survivors everywhere will be thrilled.

The Labour MEP who lost his seat is a far better person in every respect. I really hope you're happy, because I'm bloody not.

Nice to see you're taking it seriously. Actually the fascists polled slightly fewer than five years ago, it's the non-voters who allowed this dreadful man into power. If you don't vote, people who want to take your vote away get elected. So vote, it's not like there's a lack of bloody candidates.

I'm not happy about that result but I guess that's what you get in a democracy. Anyway, threat title amended to reflect what will no doubt become a busy thread....

Oh for heaven's sake, don't be deliberately obtuse. I'm not objecting to the holding of elections, I'm objecting to the fact that British people have voted for an ex-National Front, ex-National Socialist hardcore fascist who wants to abolish British freedoms to represent them. Spot the difference, Paul? I have a fair bit of faith in people who actually put their lives on the line to defeat fascism not being wholly thrilled by this development. Call a spade a spade.

What's unserious about that? Check this man's record and see if you're laughing then.

You are right. I do not take any of it seriously anymore. All the main parties have just blurred into a great big pile of crap they are all feathering their own nest none of them actually listen to the electorate. 30 years ago there was a noticeable difference between Labour and Conservative and now its just a brown squidgy mess between them

Re: BNP MEP elected and other results

Andrew Brons

Alleged former member of the British Neo-Nazi group the National Socialist Movement.

Former member of the original BNP... which later merged with the League of Empire Loyalists to form the National Front.

Former head of the National Front.

And now... BNP MEP for Yorkshire & the Humber...

Re: BNP MEP elected and other results

Proof of the pudding..but going by past experience there may well be a vacancy arising long before the next set of MEP elections..

Fine, cant say im thrilled either, but thats what you get with free elections. Perhaps you should ask why so many people voted that way, instead of just insulting them.

I did my best, I did vote - not for the BNP, so this result is a huge disappointment
