Re: Pandemic (Swine) Flu
The HPA has confirmed a case in Merseyside, i wouldn't be surprised if it was my patch as there has been a lot of whispers about a 'few' suspected cases

AS swine flu sweeps the globe the most pressing thing on EU ministers’ minds isn’t vaccinations or containing the virus… it’s pork PR.

I think people need to watch this film issued in case of emergencies such as this in this great country, this, Great Britain.

This is Britain and everything's alright. It's okay. It's fine.

Mexico has revised down the suspected death toll from swine flu from 176 to 101, indicating that the outbreak may not be as bad as was initially feared.
Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova told the BBC that, based on samples tested, the mortality rate was comparable with that of seasonal flu.

Re: Pandemic (Swine) Flu
I can just hear the daily mail quietly trashing its eight-page feature on how not to die of flu this year. My, the tabloids will be disappointed. Mind you, they won't be as disappointed as the Labour Party, which must have been grateful that a major international news story was deflecting attention from our useless Prime Minister for a change, rather than showing up his ineptitude.

There is no evidence of the swine flu virus spreading in a sustained way outside North America, a top World Health Organization official says.
Dr Michael Ryan, WHO Director of Global Alert and Response, praised European nations' handling of cases and said events did not seem out of control.

There are a lot of pig-sick (geddit) conspiracy nutters out there now, who just spent their life savings on tinned food, cheap bog roll and water purification tablets.
Looks like the sky isn't falling after all.
