Re: G20 Protests
Given all what was said before and after the G20 London protests about the protesters and the police alike, a quick look at Strasborg today or Italy in the past, shows how well it went and how lucky we are - both for our protesters and police behavior.

This dying man you mean?

Police officers came under attack while they tried to help a dying man at the G20 protests in the City last night.
The victim was found by a member of the public unconscious in the street near the Bank of England just before 7.30pm yesterday.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers arrived on the scene to help and had to move the casualty away for urgent treatment after bottles were thrown at them by protesters.

Re: G20 Protests
Apparently they started throwing bottles, then some of the other protesters got them to stop, but when the police started to move him they threw more bottles.

Re: G20 Protests
There was hundreds of cops near the airport this morning, apparently Marine one was grounded so "The Beast" went up the M11 which was shut (during rush hour).
Due to the Fog I didn't see Air Force one take off

I'm surprised we haven't had "chaos23" posting this proof. : This guy is just one of the hundreds of hate jockey wannabe Rush Limbaugh's in the States, thankfully the worst we have is James Whale.

Re: G20 Protests
A video has come to light:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/ap...police-assault
Having viewed it, and with sufficient proviso that we don't know what happened before, it does look very much like Mr. Tomlinson was struck fairly hard *from behind* with a baton and then pushed to the ground while not offering any violence to the police and not being anywhere near any confrontational activity.
punky - the police story in the Times omits this entire episode. Still trust 'em?

Re: G20 Protests
Not enough video prior to the lunge to know if he had been doing anything previous to the officer pushing him for me to be certain that there was absolutely no reason for it. Having been in that situation although granted many years before i can tell you now that clip may completely misrepresent the situation and while it is good for those that want to go at the police for heavy handedness it is not long enough to be able to accurately assess the overall situation that the guy might have been involved in. But please don't let that stop any of our resident police hater's from having a good rant as i am sure they will soon be here to call for this officers and that officers head for this .

Police assault innocent man - then he dies.
Exclusive footage obtained by the Guardian shows Ian Tomlinson, who died during G20 protest, was attacked from behind by baton–wielding police officer.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/g20-pol...-ian-tomlinson
Further evidence of the Police state that is developing in this country.

Terrible, if true - a full investigation should take place.
