Summer of rage?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7905172.stm
Quote:
Police are preparing to face a "summer of rage" in the UK as people join protests over the economic downturn, says a senior Met Police officer.
"Known activists" were likely to foment unrest, with the recession creating more "footsoldiers" to join them, Supt David Hartshorn told the Guardian.

A likely problem or media scaremongering to get a good headline?

The media take problems and magninfy them 100% in my opinion and cause even more problems.

Re: Summer of rage?
Well at the moment the media is obsessed with linking anything it possibly can to the recession, almost every day there is another trend they claim is a result of the recession with little or no basis for that.

Re: Summer of rage?
Police scaremongering, I think. The police have, of course, far more resources and far more generous laws available to 'control' demonstrations than in 1991, so they're getting their hit in early.
I'm surprised there haven't been major demonstrations yet, but then this is Britain. The French were straight out, of course.
