Hu Jintao did too slow rescue during earthquake!
2008-05-25.The death toll from the May 12 earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province has claimed 62,664 lives and left 358,816 injured and 23,775 missing as of noon on Sunday, according to the State Council Information Office.
The first 72 hours after an earthquake are judged to be crucial.Unfavourable comparisons have been raised about the speed and size of the military mobilisation for this emergency, compared to the massive troop deployments in March following rioting and protest marches in Tibetan areas of Western China.
Only 20 helicopters of a total of 500, were sent by PLA commanders to the earthquake area. Given the mountainous terrain and severed or blocked roads, helicopters are crucial to any rescue effort.
Another issue that has generated criticism is why the Chinese government refused offers of expert help from other countries until two days after the quake. Now, search and rescue teams from Japan, Russia, South Korea and Singapore, with sniffer dogs, fibre-optical and heat-sensitive equipment, have been admitted to the earthquake zone. There are no available statistics in China of how many sniffer dogs the PLA itself has. Perhaps issues of military prestige (opposition from PLA commanders) or an underestimation of the scale and severity of the crisis led to the Chinese government’s initial refusal to accept outside help. But whatever the reason, valuable time was lost.

Free China? How is this related to a rapid response to an earthquake?

If you want to call making the world aware of the actions (or inaction) of a govt, 'propaganda'.....then half of the threads in the 'current affairs' section are propaganda

Maybe, although it's very different in tone and is not attacking a group of people other than the government. Also, it's quote coherent thus reducing the likelyhood it is from another certain (Former) member.

Re: Hu Jintao did too slow rescue during earthquake!
We actually have a small thread on the Chinese Quake. This post really should have been put in there. Hence this thread is closed.
The internet, and ability to protest within China is heavily regulated and criticism from within China (the OP was using a Chinese IP), is impossible. As to whether the criticism is fully justified given the scale of the tragedy, is difficult for us to understand and know. Normally we would deleted these sort of posts as spam, but on this occasion I will leave it in view.
