Yeah cause we all fell for that election fiasco didn't we lol. Putin is old school communist that had to dress it up different but the man will be a pain in the backside for sometime to come unfortunately.

Putin will now be the puppet-master, pulling Medvedev's strings until in four years time he rises to be "official" president again. I wonder if Bush still believes what he "saw in Putin's eyes".

Eventually the old order and communism will die away.We just have to hope that some form of democracy remains until that day.So we need to not get into a head to head that would drive Russia to abandoning democracy altogether.

Well it seems the majority of Russians are happy enough [for now], especially after the chaos of the 90s. Hopefully in time they will want their democracy back, but as you say coggy at the moment the ordinary guy in the street doesn't want to be told that by the west.
