There are many forms of Christianity and JW's are but one so one can believe in God without believing the entire spectrum of the JW's faith and belief.

Indeed, for instance, some xians don't believe Catholics are xians... so should xians hold other xians in deep esteem?

I'm still waiting for any evidence that atheists are disadvantaged in any way?Or that just agreeing to let live is actually against any atheists 'code'.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"

If there is a god I don't think we atheist's will come off too badly, because not all religions can be right and as Homer Simpson said, "what if we picked the wrong one, we are just making god madder each week". I reckon he will be to busy smiting the followers of other religions to worry about us.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"

As an Atheist, reading this thread, it's like all the others, pointless in a way. My own conclusions are that most athiests think religious people have lost the plot, but at the same time leave them to get on with it as long as they themselves are also left out of it.

The flip side is sometimes believers tend to think non believers are missing out on something wonderful and they so like to share it, but then that's where it gets dodgy. I feel that believers do tend to feel superior because they have something that others don't so that change certain views on subject, often not in a good way.

Live and let live though.

As that was a poorly aimed shot in my direction, I feel suitable qualified to answer it

And the answer is yes - my mother seemingly considers herself to be almost more Catholic than the Pope - and I hold her in very high esteem.

No but they should respect the laws covering religious freedom.

I still have my beliefs but I have no trust in organisations and I found the life to hard. I still believe in a lot of what I was taught yes.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"

If you don't believe in any god or religion why are you getting your knickers in a twist Xaccers? Why not just shrug your shoulders and leave them to their delusions...It's not as if anyone is insisting that you should believe.

Or have they?

Actually, you've never been able to Russ, neither has Towny come to that, although his attempts have been more substantial and knowledgeable than your own.

I would ask what you'd call someone who demands allegence on pain of death and has ordered the slaughter of countless men, women and children, but I already know the answer.
