well thanks very much and with an intimate knowledge of JWs I could be alot nastier but out of respect for my brother and his family I wont , so how long have you been a slave , you sound like a new convert and theres no fanatic like a new convert. When my brother joined the ranks he was convinced the world was ending within weeks and the new system of things would take over , that was 20 years ago and still reading natural disasters and changes in the worlds banking system as prophecy

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"
This is one of those never ending argument's where a so called god can neither be proved or disproved, the question in my mind is why do we still believe in something that supposedly happened 2000 years ago, when at the same time we can laugh at the thought of Mount Olympus, Zeus and the rest of the Roman gods as patently ridiculous.? Also when you look at the texts of all three of the Abrahamic faiths each of them are pretty intolerant to other religions, is it the Christian god who demands we must only worship him because he is a jealous god?. To me this may have been useful a thousand or even a couple of hundred years ago, to cement society because life was hard and it gave the masses hope, but today 2000 years later after I don't know how many atrocity's and not even a glimmer of proof.

Does life really work that way? Do my workmates ask me if I want to talk about football, last night's tv, the daily news etc or do they just talk about it, like most people do?

A cheap pop from you so early in the thread? I am disappointed

Lets not pretend Russ, the reality is time after time I've shown you in context where the scripture has shown god to be a genocidal tyrant, and time after time you have ignored it because you don't have the strength of your convictions to admit that your god isn't actually all that nice and still worship him.
Time after time I've asked you to show how the bible is wrong in what it records as having happened or it's predictions of what will happen, and you've not.
How exactly is saying that non-christians will be killed taking scripture out of context?
Will or won't people deemed not to be christians be killed at god's command according to the bible?

I do not see you ever saying " do you believers mind if I tell you why I don't" You will not find me trying to ram religion down peoples throats you will however find examples of defending religion and faith when it is being dissed

This is your choice and your freedom to choose whether you believe or not..Let us give everyone that choice without abusing them for their choice.

No, because that is the way I am.
But, of course, if I'd have said yes then you would have retorted that society has been shaped by Christianity over the years...
Why can't you accept that there are other viewpoints from people who don't share the ideas of Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor?

If they were showing you respect they would. Surely you can see that?

You chose to be a mod, you could have refused the invite, ergo you find such threads acceptable to read. Should you decide you no longer find them acceptable, then you have the option to resign as a mod. No one in this thread other than yourself is making you read it.

Mosaic ended when Christ was put to death and paid the ransom sacrifice for the betrayal in Eden

But it is unrequited love, I never asked for it and don't care for it. Even in the hypothesis that there was a god then I would not want it interfering in my life.
My view pulls your entire belief structure to pieces. Your view is your view and your entitled to it but god or no god I still would not want to be involved with any of the religious groups.

So come judgment day, nothing will change? Everyone will live happily ever after?
I think you need to re-read the NT Zing

I have taken you down time after time in discussions like this Xaccers, Towny has done it with a lot more finesse. The seriousness I take in your participation of these discussions is always measured by how early you wheel out the 'genocidal tyrant' line. I have shown you how you have taken scripture out of context repeatedly however your strength of your convictions has prevented you from seeing it.

For the first 2 or 3 years of this subject appearing on this site I answered each of your points but when it became clear you had no intentions of seeing it any differently from your own views I gave up on what is clearly a race no bible basher could ever win.
