That is one of my most favorite bits of knowledge. Aren't there something like 7 different theories of flight and none of them can explain the bumblebee?

And you've agreed that not praying can result in a deity not taking action which otherwise they would have.
Therefore there are situations where prayer could make a difference, but if no one prays, god does bugger all about the situation.

Not at all. Perhaps help has already been sent for without the person knowing about it.

Bloke hanging off window ledge, another bloke there and present, able to help but won't unless someone asks him to and is willing to let the hanging person fall to their death if no one asks for help.
Not a very nice chap really.

In this day and age the 2nd bloke may not want to get involved incase he gets stabbed or presented with a law suit from Claims Direct.

Still playing games Russ?
Its a specific reference to the main deity mentioned in the bible, followed by Jews, xians, Muslims etc.
Wouldn't want anyone to think I was just talking about the deity that you specifically worship.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"
One either believes, or doesn't (imho).
If one doesn't, fair enough.
If one does, equally fair enough.
It's only when either try to impose their view on the other, when the problem starts (again, imho).

Well, it'd be better for the guy hanging to wait for the window ledge to give way, so he can sue the company that it wasn't fit for purpose.
The only thing to worry about really is if he's hanging there and then get hit by lightning. Most insurance companies won't cover Acts of..
Nah, I can't do it.

On that note could you force an insuarnce company to pay out by arguing that God does not exist?

Probably not. They'd only counter with some rubbish excuse like "Oh we just use that term because saying '...and other things that we don't feel like covering' is too wordy."
I've never liked that they use that phrase in the contract actually, because it's used as a get-out clause for anything too expensive to cover.
