Religion is not setup to answer any real questions and that is why certain religions now but all eventually are losing members people are not happy to go along on faith as much as they once were.
I am not campaigning for the end of religion but if it wants to survive trotting out scripture is not going to cut it and it better come uip with better answers then it has been giving people to explain some basic questions that more and more people are asking.

What you mean is you think it's not set up to give the type of answers you want?

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"
Yes islam is increasing it's numbers but i also believe that more people then ever before are also leaving islam. At one point in the christian church recruitment outstripped those leaving and that is how islam is at the minute but as with the christian church it can change and change quickly. I wouldn't get any pleasure out of religion ending if there were still people that had belief but i wouldn't be crying about it either i just think the answers of old are not working as well as they once did on a more modern audience and that is something religion has to address if it wants to continue.
That little collection of scripture didn't answer anything at all Russ thats the point i didn't ask you a question based on the bible i asked what i thought was a simple question on the nature of god and how he works. Answer i want to hear is one that makes sense without the need of a bible one that can be understood by someone without faith because if you can't explain to me in a way a non faith person can understand how do you expect people like me to change my position.

Which would be difficult - let's face it, it all comes back to whichever supreme being you believe in...

Women priests you mean? Ordination of gays? Both have virtually split the church.

In to different languages, but the Dead Sea Scrolls told us all but a few words were accurately translated.

Also going back to Henry VIII, and the creation of the Church of England, its not unknown for religion's to adapt to the times we live in, personally Id say it was essential to their being seen as relevant in modern times.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"
So apart from translation it has never had sections removed or re-worded your absolutely sure about that ??. Because as the bible is the cornerstone of the christian faith if it had been re-worded or rewritten in anyway that would be classed as changing the rules would it not ??.

The moment a man (or woman) makes a change to a biblical religion it stops being Godly and becomes man made, such as Catholicism.

Er...no?
I don't agree it has been reworded. Translated yes but that's as far as it goes.

Re: Christians told to treat atheists and agnostics with "deep esteem"
Ah well here we are back to the same old issues that every religious thread reverts to every time.
Now it gets boring so I'll be leaving at this point.
Byeee.Don't stay up too late.
