Tribute to our Forces

Just watched the Lord mayor`s tribute to the forces & their families. Its been long overdue, people need to see just what sacrifice our young men & women are making for our benefit.

One guy lost both legs & one arm, he wants to get fit so he can continue to work & be an asset instead of a liability. What a ****ing great attitude. If some of todays youth was half the man he is this country would be in a far better state.

The anguish families go through when they hear someone has been killed in action. I`ve sat waiting for news & its a rotten feeling. We need to support our forces more & show them we care.

Hats off to them.

Re: Tribute to our Forces

If the young guy you are referring to SMG is the one I saw on the news a couple of days ago in an army rehab center, he too had lost both legs and an arm in a road-side bomb in Afghanistan on Christmas eve, his resolute attitude to make something positive of his life after such an horrific injury is very humbling indeed. My old dad who's in his 70s now but spent ten years of his life in the army, anyway he got together with a few of his mates last year and took thirty squaddies for a day out at Goodwood race-course, they hired a marquee had lunch as much as they could drink, and boy the old man said they could drink, and £100 a piece to bet with. When I went to see my dad a few weeks later he showed me one of the letters a squaddie had sent afterwards, Ill not go into details but it brought a tear to my eye, as you say SMG these are very special young men and women.

Re: Tribute to our Forces

All of us at Finmere are donating our green fees and the profits from food/drink sold on May 11th to Help for Heros
All of the major airsoft stores have donated items for the raffle.
Hopfully we'll be raising over a grand (fingers crossed it'll be closer to £2K).

Re: Tribute to our Forces

We actually raised over £3000
Not bad for just over 100 people many of them under 18.

Re: Tribute to our Forces

Thanks guys, it was a really good day and we're impressed by the amount raised (we thought £2000 would be a good result!)

Re: Tribute to our Forces

Excellent result Xaccers, its good to see such a large some raised by relatively few people, and very satisfying to know a lot were under 18, its a shame the media doesnt cover the good a lot of youngsters do.
