voting why hardly any media coverage???
Just wondered why the media, news channels, have for some reason not put the topic of voting front stage as they normally do. Why the blackout on this...?

Re: voting why hardly any media coverage???
I was wondering the same thing. If I remember, the last local election had way more publicity.

Re: voting why hardly any media coverage???
Nothing much to report, really, until the polls close. I think there are some rules about reporting exit polls until then, to avoid influencing people voting later.

Also, not all of the country were going to the polls today.

Well it looks like both Labour and LibDem are losing out to the Tories

Plenty of minute by minute coverage here

Lets hope the voting stays the same at the next General Election and we might see the back of Labour at last.

Exit labour, enter labour. We're gluttons for punishment.

Re: voting why hardly any media coverage???
Hmmm - the worst results for Labour in 25 years apparently Even Michael Foot and Harold "Sterling has been devalued but it won't affect the value of the Pound in your pocket" Wilson's tenure saw better results lol
Just heard Harriet Harman waffling on about how they made a mistake re the 10p band and that they'd now learned to listen but Gordon Brown claimed that was going to be the cornerstone of his approach when he took over from Bliar and there's been precious little evidence of it franky! These people never seem to learn - they just keep issuing the same old rhetoric and spin.....
So far, if I heard correctly, the turnout figure is around 30% It always amazes me how many people will happily whinge about their rubbish collection and other services but when it comes to voting can't be bothered.

Possibly the best quote I've seen so far:
Quote:

When you lose four seats to the Socialist People's Party of Furness, you really know you're in trouble.

Really, if you screw the poor just before an election, don't expect them to vote for you. At least the BNP isn't benefitting, and we can look forward to Boris Johnson hilariously screwing up the Tories and the Olympics for the next four years (ok, that's only a very faint ray of light considering I've got to live in London with that prat in charge).

Well none of the candidates fill me with inspiration but I'll be delighted if Red Ken gets the heave ho
Surely you don't have to live in London do you? What wrong with Frinton on Sea ? It's sooo much safer than that urban jungle otherwise known as Chiswick

Some of the counts now don't start until the following morning so the results don't come in until late afternoon...
You get a block of results in the morning and then another block in the afternoon.

Yes the London votes won't be out until later today and the 2nd choice option in the Mayoral election slows things down a bit too.

Re: voting why hardly any media coverage???
35% turnout, hardly fired the nation's imagination then! The majority stayed at home.
