Perhaps you could post on this forum the email you sent, to enable us to share in your efforts at multi-culturalism? What next - will you email your local Afro-Caribbean council asking how you could become Afro-Caribbean?

Presumably you are drawing a distinction between travellers (who could be just about anyone) and Gypsies, who presumably are some kind of ethnic sub group?
I suspect that it would be difficult to define Gypsy as an ethnic group. What are the determinant factors? for example, are there any physiological indicators? what about colour, facial shape, DNA etc? Or is it just that they have always roamed in caravans which were once horse drawn but are now drawn by a vehicle?
Either way it matters not. I simply would like to give the lifestyle a try. I'm open minded ,i have very close Irish Ancestry, I can trace my extensive family tree back to the 1700's so far,i speak with an Irish accent, I can tick the box for Irish in the application forms which seek to collect ethnic data. It was a serious enquiry but they ignored me.
Perhaps they get a lot of emails and they dont want to spoil the air of exclusivity which their group currently enjoys?
I could'nt possibly become Afro Caribbean for i have no roots there. also i am not sure what advantages could be gained by "becoming" afro Caribbean ?
