Must admit, it's the first I've ever heard of the London visit, and I know some very ardent Elvis fans (regular Memphis/Tupelo etc pilgrims).

Well, yeah - but I suppose it's interesting enough when mentioned alongside the long-running view that the Pelvis never had the opportunity to perform in the UK (or anywhere else save for a few shows in Canada) due to his Manager 'Colonel' Tom Parker being a Dutch illegal immigrant who would (or could) have been deported upon applying for a US passport.
(I don't subscribe to this view myself - I think it's hokum. (Elvis not performing elsewhere, not Tom Parker being Dutch))
Him setting foot on English soil is probably a very big thing for his more shall we say, fervent fans I'd guess.
I find it hard to believe it's true anyway, without any proof. Imagine the people that would have seen him. Security at airports at the very least.
