I remember some years back they were able to get a guy with one implanted to recognise the letter H.
Very low resolution with only a few electrodes, but it was the start.

Indeed it does, still very crude but at least it's a start, hopefully, soon, with things moving as fast as they are, it will offer hope to 100's of thousands of people, I just hope it is made available cheaply enough to be affordable, I know that money versus sight should be a no brainer, but unfortunately that isn't / won't be the case for many

Mind you that will be how long and after how much testing i'd try it myself anyway.
