Labour party has let this country slip into the depths of despair. Let's have a look at the evidence:-

They might make some wild claim that crime is down but - A wild claim it is but not necessarily a valid one. But one thing is for sure, violent crime is on the up.

We have teenagers being killed by knives and stabbing weapons in our schools and on the streets.

Gun crime is more common than it was ten years ago.

Higher Taxes. Including the ridiculous hikes in Council Taxes.

Stupid Green Tax bands that target not just the Gas guzzling cars but the ordinary motorist driving his Ford Focus. The Tax which Taxes the poor but allows the rich to continue to pollute our lands.

Offenders are getting younger.

Prison Population at its max.

This is not just a Labour trait but it would seem some MPs and the speaker of the house are exploiting their 'expenses' entitlement and paying for normal everyday costs not from their Salary, like normal Joe public, but from the coffers of the Tax payers and it would seem Labour are intent on allowing this nonsense to continue without questions being asked.

The removal of the 10p Tax Band. Affecting low paid earners. But makes high paid earners (The rich) better off.

The Northern Rock fiasco and Labour bailing them out at the Tax payers expense.

And many many other scandals and other rubbish policies that Labour as ever invented.

So sorry Nidge (and any other Labour lover), well actually I am not sorry, but Labour has been an absolutely crap government over these last 10 or so years and this will be reflected when they lose their power at the next General Election.

Good point. Poll is now Private. Voting is usually a private affair. Also I have added the 'Abstain' option. As some people don't vote.
Mick the prison situation is one that successive governments have passed on to the next.Building prisons is expensive and neither the Tories or Labour have picked up the baton on that one.You cannot say it is only Labour who are responsible though they have been part of the process.I'll be very interested to see how the Tories will tackle that issue.

Why should I vote for people who have lied repeatedly, who lie and promise so much at election time but never deliver after an election and line their own pockets with public money whilst voting for things that I never wanted them to vote for. After all I wasn't bothered about smoking in public places or hunting but there are the laws on the statute book. What damned relevance had hunting to my way of life when there are far more important issues to be sorted out like the countrywide lack of social housing and the post code lottery for NHS treatment?

Re: Who will you be voting for in the next general election?

I thought the tories had already made it clear they will build new prisons if\when they are elected. Problem may not be a labour one exclusively or originally but they have been in power for over a decade time i think to stop harping back to what the tories might have done wrong. What is an exclusive to labour is the early release program that despite assuring us the public it wouldn't has let violent offenders out early as we just don't have the space to keep them in prison. Public sector workers have done wellish out of labour and want that to continue which it won't under the tory plans but thats not a good enough reason to vote back in a party that has so patently failed in many of it's core promises to the electorate.

I agree incog i don't trust any of them either but we have to have someone and i really do not want another 4-5 years of labour and i do believe this time things will be different not by a massive amount by a little better. If labour get re-elected i have no faith that anything will get better in reality while i am constantly bombarded with how much better it is through government statistics.

You can't blame only one side for an ongoing problem that goes back across several changes of government.Plus I'll believe it when I see it about the Tories building new prisons. It will take so long that that by the time they are built Labour will be back in and can claim kudos for them...

So untrue - when the munitions were flying past, I would hug the dirt, a tree, anything that was between me and the barsteward who was sending the pieces of metal my way.

Re: Who will you be voting for in the next general election?

I heard an interesting comment on the radio the other day. It was: 'The greatest threat to democracy is if people feel unrepresented'. The comment was made in the context of proportional representation. Reading through this thread, it strikes me as so true. What choice is there in this country? Nu Labour and Tories are interchangeable, and Lib Dems don't have a hope in hell of getting in. The opposition doesn't try to do anything constructive. Instead, their main goal appears to be to try to score points by pointing out the errors of the party in government.

Can we please have proportional representation? Yes, it'll mean that the BNP may get a few seats (and show what idiots they are). But so will the Green party and UKIP. Lib Dems might actually have an impact. More importantly, though: More people would feel they are represented in parliament, which can only be a good thing?

Frankly I think that we should do away with a government as such.Just have a different committee for each department made up of equal members of each voting persuasion.I'd definitely like to see Education taken away as an electoral football. That way there might be a chance of some long term planning rather than knee jerk u turn policies announced as spin.

Let's give the army a try governing the country, they don't appear to be coping with their present job very well since the enemy stopped wearing uniforms, perhaps the troops would be better employed on our streets these days.
