Re: Pete Doherty Jailed
I for one am absolurly delighted, and it should have been longer, what makes me laugh, is on the news tonight, his manager has said, it is a disgrace, he has gone to prison and that they will appeal, this guy, as had so many chances, he has been to more courts, and got away with it, and has taken the law, as though it was some sort of joke, if that was say joe public, they would have been banged up for months, maybe the guy, will grow up in prison and come out a better person, and carry on like the guy he was,a good singer.

The thing with appeals is, they work both ways, wouldn't it be funny if his sentence was increased

Actually, that probably hits it on the head better than any other comment I've read, about this....
Rather than waste cell space on yet another dilettante, it would have a more lasting effect if we just ignored him, in my opinion.
I, for one, would be most annoyed if I found some-one doing time for GBH was released early in order to make room for such a sad case as this - whatever his faults Mr Doherty is a much greater risk to himself, than anyone else, imo ?
Treating him to the ridicule of indifference would be much more effective than a prison sentence, in the long run, I think ?????

Personally, I'd rather they put a rapist or a murderer or a terrorist in the cell
I remember reading somewhere that they're in short supply at the moment.

Here here Paddy, Docherty is not my cup of tea, but I fail to understand why a lot of people seem to be taking immense pleasure from this guys misfortune, he is hardly a rapist or murderer, if that was the case I could understand, hell Id be joining in, but this is a case of a sad sick human being who is obviously ill.

Don't forget that they release people early to stop prisons overcrowding so that there's space for people who done more serious crimes...

His community order will probably have been revoked, so all the drug rehabilitation and supervision will end - he doesn't seem to have done much of it anyway. Any bets on what happens when he comes out?

Re: Pete Doherty Jailed
If only he could stay there for the rest of his pathetic life. As to why people are getting immense pleasure from it oh i don't know maybe it has something to do with the fact most of us don't have such a priviledged life and pi** it up the wall while being a smug **** about it. He is a celebrity for the sake of celebrity i have heard some of his music and it appeals as much as he does to me. He is someone that has had all the chances and has thrown them all back in pursuit of his drug habit i wouldn't waste a bullet on him give him a nice syringe filled to the top with 100% pure and then slap him on a poster then he might finally do some good.

Note another 2 points
a) A source (arf, arf - the Sun's reknowned for it's "sources")
b) he can have virtually what he wants - a little bit of hyperbole there, doncha think
If it is factual, I think that he should not have extra privileges - but considering the source, I reserve judgement.
