No more mosques' says Synod member

A prominent evangelical member of the Church of England’s General Synod has called for a ban on the building of any more mosques in Britain.

Alison Ruoff also claimed that Sharia law is inevitable in this country if mosques continue to be built here.

Mrs Ruoff, a former magistrate, said in an interview with London’s Premier Christian Radio that no more mosques should be built in Britain until all persecution of Christians in Muslim nations had ceased.

She said: “No more mosques in the UK. We are constantly building new mosques, which are paid for by the money that comes from oil states.

“We have only in this country as far as we know, 3.5 to four million Muslims. There are enough mosques for Muslims in this country, they don’t need anymore.

“You build a mosque and then what happens? You have Muslim people moving into that area, all the shops will then become Islamic, all the housing will then become Islamic and as the Bishop of Rochester has so wisely pointed out, that will be a no-go area for anyone else.

Dr Michael Nazir-Ali enraged the Muslim community and received death threats against his family when he warned recently that parts of Britain had become no-go areas for non-Muslims.

There's a girl who i work with at work who goes to Oldham in Manchester every few week's.
There's a place,she said that is strictly no go areas for non-Muslims,How on earth have we let parts of the uk turn into ghettos like this?

No it bloody isn't. If it was, you see, you'd actually have people like Bishop Nasty-Ali pointing out where they are so we could go and have a look. No one ever has, so I conclude they're nasty little scaremongering Islamophobic right-wingers as usual. Still, hard right evangelical protestantism usually works on a 'facts have a liberal bias' principle, so I'm not surprised.

The unanswerable answer to this desperately stupid woman is 'why, if Christians are persecuted in Muslim countries is it alright to persecute Muslims in Christian countries?'. It's the old 'you wouldn't be allowed to do that in Russia' argument again, and is equally idiotic.

Of course, I'm willing to be proved wrong, if you know one of these no-go areas I'll be glad to go and have a look. I (a technical Jew) might ring up Sunny Hundal* (a secular Sikh, and prominent blogger on religious and community issues) and get him to come down. If we don't come back, you might have a point. I don't agree with any of the original quote in the thread apart from:

BUT on the other hand there are (im 80% sure) are no-go areas for Muslims too so its 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other really!

Its a case of people have been scare-mongered by the USA and British Security services about terrorism.

We all have to learn to accept each-other. I try my hardest not to judge people by their race/religion. I try to get to know them first!

When I was younger Myself and another of my friends was attacked in Glodwick (In Oldham)
They ran from behind the public baths in about a gang of 25 or so screaming white .........
They hit my friend and stole his cap, but we managed to get away.

For me this was a racial attack end of story.

I would class that area as a no-go for white non muslims despite what anyone says.

I can see how that could put a slant on it.

What really gets my goat is that we can't call them "black [bleep]" or "******" but they can shout abuse like "white ********".

If we went to the police, they'd laugh and kick us out of the station I reckon.

I'm not racist, I just think there is a "one rule for us one for them" and it should be completely equal. If we get arrested etc for racial harrassment then so should everyone no matter what creed/colour/religion we are!

some of the faithful have purchased a de commissioned Methodist church in Grimsby, to convert into a mosque ,wonder what the synod would make of that . i'm fed up with it first the ruddy vikings come rowing up the humber,now this .when will it end
