It's not over till the fat lady has stuffed the ballot boxes and intimidated the opposition. Anyway, one of the main opposition figures is an ex-mate of Mugabe's, so the No Real Change Party is still my prediction to win.

IIRC Joshua Nkomo was also a chum of Mugabe's and it didn't do him much good. Let's hope the same happens to Mugabe very soon.

I think Mugabe is in between a rock and a hard place. Not before time too!

When he leaves the country for good will be the day when the people are free of this tyrant, he wants bringing to task for the things he did against his own people.

Yes and it's sadly ironic that someone who came to power to replace Ian Smith's unjust regime and hopefully put right the wrongs of that era went on to become just another African despot.

They may be free of this tyrant, but may end up with another.

I was involved with a Zimbabwean woman (ahem) who had a strong involvement with the MDC party, and if her attitude to the people of Zimabwe was anything to go by the MDC will not necessarily be a huge improvement.

She had a complete and utter disrespect for the poor working class in her country, she refered to them as 'The chattering Masses' whilst saying their opinions should be ignored.

On numerous occassions she referred to them as 'The Lazy Blacks'

She also said that once Mugabe had gone the result would be a power struggle amongst the tribes that he had been oppressing, and it would likely end in more bloodshed.

I see an improvement with a change of power, but probably enough to pay lip service to countries that are calling for change in Zimbabwe so they can get some aid from us.

The tyrant is dead, long live the tyrant!

I cant find a link but this is true... honest

Mugabe is coming over to the UK, he is going to assume to role of chancellor for the next 7 years, and then take over as PM without an election.

I dont know if you are aiming that at my post suggesting I have made it up, but some of the older members around here may recall my posts about the unfortunate situation I got into with my involvement with a Zimbabwe woman whos husband was a government minister for Zanu pf.

Long after the relationship was over I discovered she had joined the MDC and was in fact a representative for the MDC in this country. That was of course ater she came clean and claimed asylum, by admitting that the South African passport she came here on was bogus.

I have had my fair share of involvement with dodgy Zimbaweans and Nigerians, and I have learned that people from these countries should not be judged by your own expected standards. I had a close shave with my bank account after this person went to work for my bank callcentre in newport and had been looking into my bank accounts.

The list that I found out about this woman and her friends after the events is endless. I have certainly leaned my lesson to stick with my first impression of people and not be swayed by a smile.

ps. Her husband is on the list of people who was awarded land by Mugabe.

Ok, sorry.

I jumped to that conclusion, due to my past experience it tends to touch a raw nerve when Zimbabwe and the MDC are mentioned as being the saviours.

Personally I dont see the MDC turning the country around and winning any prizes for improving life for the poor. I have formed the opinion that many african countries like Zimbabwe have poor people and rich people, there are two ends to the scale with not many people falling between those categories.

Who let him get his own way for so long though that's the burning question? People suffered under his regime surly there's a way to get him in the dock??
