Re: Mugabe - could it all be over for the hero turned tyrant?
I really feel sorry for the people of Zimbabwe, but with the latest news coming via the news, it does not look good, we have Mugabe, now saying he wants a re-run of the elction results, so that he can win, with bribery, the only thing l cannot understand, is that some of the greatest countries in the world, saying that they will help the countries that are placing there people in terror, and poverty, and yet Mugabe, lives like a god, and has all the pleasures at his hands, so why don't these countries get together, and go in and take him out, remember the people of Zimbabwe, wants someone to stand for them, and although the opposition party will help, if they get in, Mugabe, will pull something out, he has done it before.

Take him out? (That doesn't sound very democratic)
And replace him with what?
What makes you think the replacement be any better, perhaps we need to put a UK person in there to run it.

Re: Mugabe - could it all be over for the hero turned tyrant?
Hi Escapee, This cruel man has run the country, with an iron bar, the people of that lovelly country, are living in extreme poverty, l saw tonight on tv, note money, was worth 50p, Mugabe and his mates, are lving in the style fit for a king, it has already been said in the media, that he will be arrested for crimes against humanity, On tv the other night, it was stated that the opposition had won, but there was no one brave enough to go and tell him, and now he wants a second election, what does that tell you, the man has power gone to his head, l reckon, if you asked ANYONE in the poverty stricken country to commit the ultimate sacrivice, by terminating him, what do you reckon they would say, put the UN in there, and get rid of Mugabe, and the whole world would unite and send everything there - he is a tryant and needs to be destroyed. l am not normally say things like that, but people are starving, and something has to be done.

Re: Mugabe - could it all be over for the hero turned tyrant?
This old duffer needs his neck in a noose for all the atrocities he and his cohorts have laid upon this country for many a year.
Those that think he should stay are either blind or supporters, the man lives in a style fit for a king whilst the country, his county falls apart.
But I don’t think he will go without a fight and knowing Mugabe as we all do this will not be a fair fight. He will kill, threaten, maim, kidnap, shoot and lie his way through what’s left of his tenure as president.

Re: Mugabe - could it all be over for the hero turned tyrant?
Looks like Mugabe is upto his old tricks again.

Quote:
Armed police in Zimbabwe have prevented lawyers from the opposition MDC from entering the high court to file a petition on the presidential elections.
Lawyer Alec Muchadehama said the police had threatened to shoot them.
The MDC wants the court to force officials to release the result of last Saturday's poll. It says its leader Morgan Tsvangirai won the ballot.
Reuters news agency said the police apparently came from presidential offices across the street, telling the lawyers no-one could enter the court.

I agree with what you are saying, but I am just making the point that the smiling friendly opposition may not be much better once they get power.
As to suggesting we get the UN in there, aren't we poking our noses into enough countries already?
Zimbabwe may yet turn out to be a third theatre for our troops once Mugabe has gone.

Yeah I agree - it may well be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Some of the rumors about the opposition leader don't make him out to be a very nice man

Hi Escapee, l now see the point you are making, It is true, that the Opposition might be totally different, the biggest problem is going to be, that IF, and that is a big IF, Mugabe, does get booted out, his henchmen, might still be in there selling the food, that they get and selling it, to the black market, the other strange is, that why has he lasted so long in power.

I am only speaking from my experience of dealings with a woman who was married to a Zanu PF government minister, when she split from him she sided up with the MDC.
Of course I was never able to get to the bottom of how much was truth and how much was lies, this is the problem when dealing with foreigners as opposed to people from your own country.
Her husband (maybe ex) is listed on a site I found with his name against land he had been awarded, she clamed to have properties back in Zimbabwe and it would be fair to assume they had been aquired either through earnings from the Zanu PF or awarded by kicking a white man out.
Her utter contempt for the peasants in her country and the fact that she was a representative of the MDC doesnt leave me with a lot of confidence in the MDC.
On the other hand perhaps she lied and had no official involvement with the MDC and she was using tha excuse of being under threat in Zimbabwe to gain asylum here. She claimed that they wanted her to be the MDC repesentative but she was afraid of being a target.
I guess that is unlikely because an asylum seeker would never tell lies like that would they.

They weren't chums and it did him plenty of good, not his followers for sure but the tyrant made his enemy his deputy, admittedly without any power but with all the trappings, he lived in luxury till he died at a ripe old age. Seems Mugabe tried the same thing again, offering Tsvangirai a power sharing deal, fortunately he declined the offer.

Re: Mugabe - could it all be over for the hero turned tyrant?
Quote:
Zimbabwean police have arrested at least five officials for allegedly under-counting votes cast for President Robert Mugabe in last month's election.
Police said the election officials have been charged with fraud and criminal abuse of duty, accused of taking nearly 5,000 votes away from Mr Mugabe.
|
I read this as 'not stuffing the ballot boxes sufficiently'. Still no official results, of course.
