Re: What a terrible way to go
Lack of time, the train was already coming. There's something odd about this apart from her being on the line when the barriers were down; the wooden slats are off to one side at crossings, which suggests she was trying to get round the end of the barriers (either onto or off the crossing). At least none of the rescuers was killed, which would have been even more tragic, given that they presumably weren't trying to cross the line illegally at the time.

Perhaps if she hit the floor she would have just lost a leg but I spose in them circumstances you cant think straight. cant be sympathetic to someone who could possibly win a Darwin award

Trapped woman killed on rail line
This is so tragic, the people who tried to help not to mention the witnesses will be scarred for a long time i'd guess

Re: What a terrible way to go
Update from Telegraph today link
" Jonathan Smith, 18, an IT student, described how the woman and her boyfriend tried to cross after the barrier was down at Hythe railway station in Colchester, Essex.
Mr Smith, who had been waiting to cross, said: "She got her foot stuck. I saw the train coming and I just thought, I've got to save her.
"I went through and grabbed her hand and got her foot out. I had her in my arms, she was safe."
But he said the woman then tried to get to the other side to join her boyfriend and was hit."

Yes, read this elsewhere today - I can only imagine what made the young lady do what she did
