Me too, but I don't think Jaguar as cars will improve. We will wait and see on that.
Would love to hear Clarkson on this one!

LMAO
@Cobbydaler - Roll on the next series of Top Gear then...
Apparently (slightly o/t) Clarkson is being questioned for speeding and talking on his mobile whilst driving on the M40 (think it was M40). No news reports that I can find to that affect anyway. Would be funny if true. (kind of)

Re: Jaguar & Land Rover to be bought by Tata
Should be good for both Jaguar and Land Rover. TATA is well established in the UK so both companies should benefit.Don,t see anything outsourced as they are here already.Corus etc.

Re: Jaguar & Land Rover to be bought by Tata
The latter end of the entire history of British car Manufacture makes me weep............. all sold off/out. Remember who Ford bought the Jag from?...
Heck we (Coventry/UK) couldn't even assemble Peugeots cheaply enough. (And I admit to owning one. Mumble, mumble. Long story. And it's not on the TG 'cool' board .)
Depressing.
Does Morgan still exist? - I don't know - it's a general, rhetorcial, enquiry.
Cerberus - the last I heard was that the Rover workers/some of bought the Co? but am happy to be told I'm way behind the times

Re: Jaguar & Land Rover to be bought by Tata
TATA are one of those conglomerates, like Daewoo, that do just about everything.
Tetley Tea, Chorus Steel, Relience Communications, and vehicles.
I would hope their investment in Land Rover and Jaguar would be so that they can learn from their production processes and quality and brign their exisiting operations up to that standard, as opposed to the other way round.
But I can't help but fear that you will see most of the components used to build Jags and Land Rovers sourced from India.
They will probably still assemble them in the UK, but I fear this will be bad for UK component suppliers to Jaguar and Land Rover.

Lyons Maid, I think they bought too and they're also involved in IT projects at Virgin Media. It's probably better for Jag to be owned by an actual company that makes things rather than private equity asset strippers. They'll get the parts wherever they can get the required quality, I should think - they're a global company.

Oddly enough, I saw James May on Friday, at Tesco Express in Hammersmith. He was *gasp* walking. With a fruity looking blonde lady.

Re: Jaguar & Land Rover to be bought by Tata
I don't think this will bode well for Jaguar.
Jaguar hasn't been very profitable in years. Recently its been kept vaguely afloat by reducing production costs by pillaging it's adopted cousins for parts. Something Tata can't really do as effectively. However, if Tata can bespoke the parts needed and keep production costs down, maybe it can survive. There's one caveat though: I think if they can market Jags to be the luxury sedan for India (as opposed to Mercs and Rollers), with its burgeoning wealth and car growth, then I think that will go a long way to helping too.
