St Patricks day was cancelled.
St. Patrick's day was canceled this year.
As there are no minor feasts during Easter week.
ie Jesus is greater than St. Patrick

I just wish the English would celebrate St Georges Day, just like the Irish, good luck to them, as they know how to celebrate it. we should follow them, the Scots celebate Burns Night, l don't know about the Welsh, but we must be down the list.

Nope - St P banished the snakes and there are still no snakes. (I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong on that.)
I only got one card this year, but from very nice people in Co Tyrone.

Re: St Patricks day was cancelled.
I was told, it was moved because it fell into holy week, and mainly the catholics don't drink in holy week but get absolutely hammered during saint paddy's day.
I dont know how correct that is, but just what I heard.

There are a couple of websites looking for support to up the status of St George's Day and create a public holiday.

We do, into the pub on the 17th March, usually. Being English means never having to say sorry for crashing someone else's party.
In comparison, I suspect St. George's Day would be extremely dull. What on earth would you do? Wear a bowler hat and have a small sherry?

Nice image.
I suspect that the reality would be that many would drape themselves with St George's flag and behave the same way they do every Friday and Saturday night.

I think the census figure is about 12% for the UK, I'm "one" but non-practising. But I'm not sure what that has to do with anything?

Re: St Patricks day was cancelled.
It was cancelled?
You might want to tell that to the people that took part in the parades/celebrations yesterday... and to quite a few packed pubs!
