Re: James Bulger's 18th birthday
I am from Liverpool and as I have stated before my daughter is of similar age to James and we actually used to go to the Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle at the time that they abducted and murdered James and it could well have been me and my wife suffering the last 18 years of horror.
Then we have people posting bile in this thread about how we should not have prosecuted the 2 monsters responsible.
If it had been my daughter then I would have left no stone unturned in my hunt for these 2 monsters.

They planned to abduct and kill a child and one possibilty was pushing their victim in front of a car, but they did even more horrific acts to James and you seem to think that we should just pat them on the back and say it is alright you were only a 10 year old child not a monster.
If they had not been caught we would probably have had the 2 youngest serial killers in history as they now had a taste for killing.
Any normal person would be horrified about what they did but you glibly accept it as a none issue, so I and many others on here feel that you should seek out some proffesional help and stop trying to twist the horror they caused into something approaching normallity.

As has been suggested, this will be my final word on the matter. At no point whatsoever have I said that these two boys are not culpable for their actions. I have suggested, however, that they alone are not to blame. I have never said that they should not receive any punishment for the acts, either, but I have recommended mercy and understanding. I have never said that their behaviour is neither acceptable or normal, nor have I ever remarked that it is a non-issue, but what have tried to convey is that we sholud not be led by a prejucided foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid tabloid press, into a pitch-fork wielding lynch mob. But you carry on being as offensive as you seem fit and just remember that "there for the grace of God go you."

Re: James Bulger's 18th birthday
Actually We don't really know what was in their minds when they led James away. I don't believe that either Venables or Thompson really intended to murder James that day. I believe that bravado played a hugh role and things got seriously out of hand.
We can't really take for fact what either of them stated during any interview with the police. Both may have said things that theyh didn't really mean but events overtook them.

You recommend mercy and understanding to those two? You're pathetic - I wonder why so many people don't want to - it's not like they offered the same options to poor James that fateful day.

I am not being offensive about but you are by trying to defend their actions, I am reacting as any father would that lives in the area that they killed James the real and only victim here.

In my day old Batman Turner(wearing his university gown) would take miscreants out into the Quad because he couldn't get a decent swing with his cane in his office and give 'em 6 of the best. All done in the open as a good example of what was available if we didn't toe the line.
However the use of paragraphs wasn't a public flogging offence.Abusing teachers and bumping off and just breaking the usual rules got you that. There was no demanding money with menacing in our school and very little physical bullying in school.
Unless you counted the staff that is.

Re: James Bulger's 18th birthday
Flyboy! MOLDOVA has nothing in his head that could make up a decent argument against Venables and Thomson that is why he dismisses all argument that tries to rationalise the behaviour of two primary school kids. He uses the same old cliches that we read about in the tabloids. In fact he shows all the signs of being what I term a MEDIA ZOMBIE.. . cant think or rationalise for himself. He needs scaremongers to give him someone to focus his hate and anger against

Re: James Bulger's 18th birthday
And yes I think that the cane being no longer in use in school is very relevant to this discussion.

They had planned to take a child and throw him under the wheels of a bus earlier, I think it's fair to say their plan all along was to kill a much younger child who couldn't defend themsleves.

I think it is probably best to close this thread now on the grounds that the discussion is just getting too heated.
