Re: "Lyrical Terrorist" sentenced
Gosh how scary. We must immediately rip up the Magna Carta and everything else and lock lots of people up.

Distasteful - Yes, a threat to our safety - not really.
This is what worries me about these new "Terrorist laws" as you cannot trust them to be used sensibly.

I'm just wondering when the angry sword wielding rabble will turn up demanding her beheading.

Well that's the difference between a civilised society and some backward bloodthirsty society -workout the defining difference for yourself.

They're too busy in the Daily Express comments page:

Now then, let me see, and in light of the Islamic reaction and Sharia Law to an innocent woman naming a Teddy Mohammed what should the sentence be I wonder?
Mmmm. Five years in jail, 200 lashes, a £50,000 fine followed by deportation to an Islamic Hell Hole of her very own choice - seems about right to me!

Re: "Lyrical Terrorist" sentenced
Well, if Arthurgray50@blu gets his stuff from there, it's only right that we know what kind of people read it. Frightened, stupid racists, apparently.
Actually, I discovered the Express' Have Your Say section via one of my favourite blogs:
http://5cc.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
where he relates his experiences of trying to argue with these people, usually by doing my old trick of pointing out that the tabloid story is false/distorted.
Quote:
have to admit to finding the whole experience of trying to engage the people there incredibly strange. I've read lots of debate with right-wing loons, and I've engaged in the odd real life discussion, but never to any great depth. I'm not a veteran of getting into tussles with people in their blogs' comments. The closest I've come is in the sometimes surreal discussion it's possible to have with evangelical and fundamentalist Christians. The same deliberate ignoring of arguments is there. The same insistence on arguing against what the person would like to have been said rather than what actually has been said is there. A similar number of logical fallacies are thrown around too, especially the trusty ad-hominem and strawman. (Sounds like the makings of a decent Comic-Book, that). The creation of a weird fantasy world pops up as well.
I can't help but be interested by this. Especially since I started this blog as a kind of space for me to say what I would to tabloid readers if I had the chance.

Naturally all this struck something of a chord...

Re: "Lyrical Terrorist" sentenced
As an alternative lyrical terrorist, how about Senator John McCain singing 'Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran'. Can we arrest him, please?
