Illinois give a Gun Licence to a baby.
The Illinois police have issued a Gun Licence to an 11 month old baby.
His father (a gun nut) applied for the licence online, and apparently paid £2.50 (source: Capital Breakfast Show). The police have issued the licence because, apparently, they only check for previous convictions and restraining orders. Not age.
His grandfather gave him a beretta shotgun..

Is there any stronger justification for stronger Gun Laws in America? If the above is happening, tbh, they might as well give up any pretence of licencing and controlling guns, and just give them out at school.

So hang on, someone with a criminal record could sign for their 2 year old kid to get a gun licence, then get a gun in their name, or are there age restrictions on sale?
I mean, if it's a case that any age can have a gun licence, but you have to be 21 to buy a gun, then that's not so bad (ignoring the lunacy of giving an 11 month old a shotgun).
Better to have restrictions on who can own guns rather than just buying them, if it is the case that someone has to have a licence to buy and be over a certain age to buy, so his grandpa must have a licence to have bought him a shotgun.
In which case, someone unable to get a license wouldn't be able to license their kid then buy them a gun and use it themselves.
For america that doesn't sound so crazy.
It all depends on whether anyone with a gun license can buy guns, or whether there are age restrictions on the sale of guns.

For a gun crazy bunch of people, Illinois have some reasonably sensible gun laws.

Buy it, yes. Possess, no. So, going from the law you quoted, it is perfectly legal to get your 11 month old baby a licence, and give him a shotgun.

Under parents supervision...
My brother can give me his gun for use with shooting, but if I misuse it, he's up for a felony offense regardless. So you tend not to give people guns unless you trust them.
The rules are worded like that only to allow children to hunt, as they have done safely for hundreds of years.

Handguns can be more easily concealed an AK-47, so it makes perfect sense why handguns are treated more harshly than rifles and large weapons.
Don't forget in this country, only handguns are banned. Not rifles or shotguns.
