40 celsius or more this summer

Will this be the summer when Britain reaches 40°C and the effects of climate change are painfully brought home?

Re: 40 celsius or more this summer

In the 70's and 80's, everyone was worried about nuclear winter (as a result of a potential NATO vs Comecon war).

Why don't we just nuke a few countries that are being "belligerent" (Axis of Evil for being "evil", Monaco for being full of poseurs, Galapagos Islands for being in the middle of nowhere) - that would bring the temperatures down for a few decades.

Seems like a win-win situation to me.........

And no, this was not posted on behalf of someone whose initials are AJ

Re: 40 celsius or more this summer

Yikes temperatures of 40c don't sound good to me. I really don't think the UK is geared for hot Summers. Unlike the USA and other countries that are used to hot Summers, we don't have A/C as standard in our homes and with temperatures that high we really do need it.

Re: 40 celsius or more this summer

We just bought an A/C for the living room, can sleep in there if necessary. Mrs joesnake isnt prepared to go through another hot summer without one, even if it is for only a few days. She is used to Chicago summers, where everyone has A/C.

I for one will love it, shorts and t-shirt and sleeping in the buff on top of the bed covers

What does annoy me is the people that are never happy

Re: 40 celsius or more this summer

I'll wait to see how much you like it when night time temps exceed 25c with high humidity and no A/C.

It'll be worse then this

Re: 40 celsius or more this summer

i really hope it doesn't get that hot! If it does I may consider moving to scotland or iceland! he he

Seriously though, as said in this thread us brits just aren't used to this kind of heat. For example, my office doesn't even have a/c! and I most certainly don't have it at home. Although I may have to invest in lots of fans if the summer is going to be that hot!!!

Why oh why, did I move out of home this year? dad's house has a pool! grr he he
