Jesus fancy dress kit
.....and the bad taste award of the day goes to this
Quote:
The Vatican acted yesterday to condemn the sale of Jesus Christ fancy dress kits, which can be bought within walking distance of St Peter's Basilica.
The "Jesus Party Wig", available across Italy to wear at the street festivities that precede Lent, costs €12 (£8) and comes complete with a flowing beard and a plastic crown of thorns.

I wasn't sure if I should have put this story in 'humour', it's that awful!

Re: Jesus fancy dress kit
Yes,i seem to recall a documentary on tv a few years back which lamented the way in which the holy land and the Chritian religion was being turned into some kind of theme park attraction. In one particular instance, the reporters turned up at the sea of Galilee where plans were afoot to construct a semi submerged platform so that visitors could pay to appear to walk on water and presumably have their photograph taken.
I expect that these biblical areas are full of tacky gift shops. Reminds me of Life of Brian really.
I have no religion but i am seriously thinking of taking up the study of the The Holy Qu'ran. I mean, its always best to be on the winning side isnt it and as Chritianity is all but dead and buried in this Godless and hopeless country of ours,it would be better to be Muslim. Think of the whole new circle of friends, acquaintances and business contacts you would propogate. Good Muslims always like to keep it in the family in their business dealings so think how good it would be to be part of that wider family?. What does the Chritian church offer? It isnt even one church ofr a start. C of E ,a load of middle class work shy clerics who live in fine houses and then preach restraint and rightousness to the prols' from the pulpit.
Religion? the last refuge of the lonely, fearfull and desperate. Join the Muslim brotherhood, thats what i say.

You make that sound like Islam isn't a religion
Re: the topic - there are far more important things in the world for the Vatican to be worried about IMO.

It always helps, when making statements, to try and have some factual background to them.
There are a number of Islamic religious denominations, each of which have significant theological and legal differences from each other but possess similar essential beliefs, but basically there are -
Sunni
Shi'a
Sufi
Kharjites
And let's not forget about the Yazidi, Druze, BábÃ*, Bahá'Ã*, Berghouata and Ha-Mim religions which either emerged out of an Islamic milieu or have certain beliefs in common with Islam.
PS - there is an 's' in "Christian"
PPS - I agree with Russ.

There may well but but there isnt one on my keyboard! I must get a new one. I type too fast for it and occasionally it skips a beat and leaves letters out.
