Re: Sinn Fein votes to support police
Its simple. Paisley will provaricate, waiting to see evidence. Of course they will decide what evidence is suitable and it it passes the test. I'd be surprised if the DUP go into government before 6 months. Then it will fall down.
I'd be happy with joint Dublin/London rule (Paisley's crew used to tie up the swings in the playpark on Sundays and banned ELO from playing in Ballymena.)

"NO SODOMITES"
The old git will find something not to like, that's for sure. One shouldn't underestimate him, but he's capable of being out-thought by Gerry Adams, who's no fool - getting Sinn Fein to support the police is harder than getting Jeremy Clarkson to join the Caravan Club.

Re: Sinn Fein votes to support police
"The decision gives Sinn Fein's ruling executive the authority to declare its support for the PSNI and the criminal justice system when devolution is restored and policing and justice powers are transferred to the Northern Ireland Assembly."
It's a caveat which very much puts the hardline unionists in, yet another, "leap of faith" situation.
Frankly I'm tired of the posturing, manoeuvering and yeah but no but yeah politics.
We'd be better off (literally) without the lot of them.

Couldn't agree more!! The "Rev" bit is a sham, and Adams and McGuiness are child murdering terrorists. Both parties only exist because they peddle their hate in schools.Much like other religious zealots I could think of!!!
Its a shame cos on a whole the Irish just want to live together in peace, regardless of religion.
They live side by side in London and go drinking together, why they have a problem with that when they go "back home" is beyond me.
Maybe its time for the majority of decent Irish people to make a stand and vote both parties into touch!!

He was being ironic - Irish political parties can't stand for the UK Parliament.
Unless you already knew that, and you were being ironic.
Life's never been the same since people discovered post-modern deconstruction.

Speaking as a Scot, you should do what we do - take over their Government, have devolution, and make them subsidise it.

How ludicrous. When was the last time,in your town or city, that you became aware of a public figure holding a ballot as to whether you would recognise the authority of our good old British bobby?. It doesnt happen does it? and why? becuase we automatically accept that rule of law must prevail and that the British bobby is the everyday symbol of that rule of law and order. It may not be perfect but its all that stands between the ordinary citizen and anarchy.
So then, why should two convicted terrorists be any different? Its laughable that the British Government even entertains them and they have made a mockery of our succesive Governments for decades.
Far better that they take Adams and Mac Guiness and hang them for the crimes they have committed and for the crimes that they have presided over that were carried out by their sectarian brotherhood.

You have to ask yourself then what the Patten Reforms were all about. 500 or so recommendations to change the justice system. Why? Answer, because it was unjust.
