Next leader of the Free World (Hilary Clinton)
Hillary's going for it (quelle surprise)
BBC
"The former First Lady has set up a presidential exploratory committee, testing the waters for a full bid.
Her announcement comes days after African-American Democratic Senator Barack Obama said he had formed an exploratory committee"
They'd make a helluva team, though, don't you think? "Clinton/Obama for 2008"
Duplicate thread - could a kind admin (or any other sort) please merge...

Re: Next leader of the Free World
It's either/or, as far as I understand it. What's interesting is who the Republicans would put up - they have real issues in that the front-runner everyone assumed, John McCain, is unpopular with non-loonies because he supports Iraq (only loonies in the US are now supporting the war, I hope everyone understands), but he's also unpopular with the religious loonies who brought us George Bush over the heads of wiser men*. They need to find a well-known Republican who didn't back Bush all the way, which is difficult, because such people have been marginalised for the last six years.
* i.e. every other possible contender

In the beginning, yes, but hopefully, if they don't frag each other too much, if one (or the other) is selected as Prez candidate, they might get together as a "dream team".

Re: [Merged] Next leader of the Free World (Hilary Clinton)
Hillary isn't much of a dream for me, except one after eating too much cheese. She's very right-wing for a Democrat and has been pretty much supportive of Iraq until recently (having discovered that it's Not Popular, she's recently moved away from Bush on this one, but not awfully far).

Sadly it'll never happen. A US president has to be male and white - it's in their constitution.

She may not be a looker in the traditional sense but I'm sure you can tell that Hilary isn't male?

Well, you can't deny that she's got balls - is that sufficient?

Where on earth did you get that. My american wife roared with lafter at that.
The USA constitution only states that the president must be a USA born citizen.

I don't think Russ was being completely serious there. I think your wife gathered that

Indeed - seems like subtle humour can be too subtle sometimes
