Who or what is the English Democrat Party?
I ask because today either my son or myself received their latest newsletter (we both have the same intials and there was no honorific in front of the name). He's not interested of course and I'm curious as to whom thought either of us might be interested enough to pay the £1 cost of the Summer/Autumn edition on our behalf.
I decided to go to their website because although I do have some agreement with some of the issues raised I did find my hackles rising at a some what anti-Scottish stance taken by some contributers to the articles.
Yes they speak a nice line in middle of the road policies about the usual issues and about the not so usual policies and yes maybe it would be nice to have a devolved govenment for England. However I was rather 'concerned' about the bias against Scottish politicians.
Anyone else come across this bunch? What do you think of them and their policies?

Think they need to find a decent web designer Sounds like another splinter group trying to make noise because they know they have no serious chance of ever getting into a position where they can actually do anything.

Give Wales a vaguely effective government and then I'd think about giving these numpties my blessing.

Re: Who or what is the English Democrat Party?
I dunno. Something fishy about them though (not just because I distrust partys who use nationalism as a campaign tool). The video that the student made on the website is actually incorrect. The £15,000 debt is usually mentioned after the top up fees. Its otherwise estimated less, £9,000. Or much much less if you studying at home (most debt is living costs rather than fees)

Fees vs living costs ........ depends
My daughter has just started Uni, and has got loans of 3k pa for fees, and 3k pa for accommodation (not food, etc). She will end up with 18k of debts, 50% of which are fees.
We fund her living expenses with a weekly allowance of £70 (none repayable ).
anyhoo, slightly

Re: Who or what is the English Democrat Party?
Yeah, Thats slightly worse now. But the living costs are more expensive as you see (accommodation + food + extras).
BTW that video, his uni is actually one of the few (i think only 2) that did not charge the full wack.
Either way, I do not know what he is doing with his many but his fees will be, at most. £4000. So I will be intrested how he got his figure of £15,000 without top up fees.....
---------- Post added at 23:10 ---------- Previous post was at 23:04 ----------
£15,000 is actually possible however.
£3,300 on Fees,
£9,000 on Living costs
Since he is in london I would give the benefit of the doubt. But it is a high figure and mis-representes the a lot (Scotland do have to pay for living costs).

Re: Who or what is the English Democrat Party?
My daughter has to repay £15,000 in loans and student loans but only when her income reaches £15,000.With her luck in getting jobs that looks like being never.

What politicians would call a "lose-lose" scenario - you have my commiserations.
